Meath LSP Community Sports Coaching Scheme Returns

Meath Local Sports Partnership (LSP) are delighted to announce the return of our hugely successful Community Sports Coaching Programme.

The goal of the Community Sports Coaching Program is to develop the skills of community leaders, coaches and club representatives through education and training, including the following qualifications:

National Sports Governing Body (NGB) Awards (GAA Dual Foundation, FAI Kick start 1 & 2, Athletics Leaders Award and Introductory Award to Volleyball, Olympic Handball and Basketball).

Community awards (Community Walking Leader, Sport Ireland Active Leadership, Safeguarding 1 & 2, Sports Injury First Aid, Disability Inclusion training)

Paul McGee took part in the program in 2018 and is now a Senior Community Coach for Meath LSP.

Paul reflects on why he joined the Community Coaching program – “After 30 years of working behind a desk, I decided it was time for a life change. I came across a Community Coaching program in 2018 and I decided to participate in. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made, I was doing something for myself for the first time in a long time.

Paul goes on to say, “The community coaching role has helped me with my own physical and mental well-being. I love coaching in my community.”

This FREE program is open to anyone over the age of 18. It would be ideal for those looking to develop further as coaches, mentors or leaders. All entrants will be screened by Garda through Sport Ireland. The trainings of the program will take place in the evening.

The deadline for expressions of interest is Wednesday, November 16, 2022. For more information, contact Ruairí Murphy; email [email protected] or call 046-9067887.
