Live Updates | Tiger Woods shoots 41 over the front at the PGA

TULSA, Oklahoma. – The latest on the second round of the PGA Championship (all local times):

11:15 a.m.

Tiger Woods made an 8-footer bogey at par-4 ninth in the PGA Championship on Saturday for one of his worst nine-hole scores at a major. He finished the front side in 6 of 41 on a cold, windy morning in Southern Hills.

Woods hit his tee shot into the water at the second and bogeyed. He hit another tee shot into the water in the sixth, then missed his shot and hit a triple. He also missed a 7-footer for par in the seventh before his bogey in the ninth.

The last hole on the front face was a funny adventure.

Woods had entered the fairway bunker 100 yards from the green when his next shot sank into the lip, which rose sharply in front of him. Because Woods was no longer in the bunker, he was allowed a free drop within a club length of the spot, giving him a good lie in the fairway. He missed the green again from there.

10:30 a.m.

Tiger Woods put two shots in the water on his first six holes in the third round of the PGA Championship, including one on Saturday’s par-3 sixth that ultimately resulted in a triple bogey.

Trouble started at par 4, when Woods found the twisty creek off the tee but managed to bogey.

Four holes later, he hit another tee shot into the water on sixth from 218 yards and it all came crashing down. He played from the drop zone and hit into the rough left of the green, then left his ground short of the putting surface. Woods eventually chipped within 2 feet and made the putt for a six that left him with 7 points for the championship.

Woods didn’t have a penalty shot in his first two rounds at Southern Hills.

9:30 a.m.

Tiger Woods picked up where he left off at the PGA Championship, but only briefly.

Woods had five of his final six holes at the end of the second round, including a pair of 15-foot par putts, which allowed him to rally to make the cut at Southern Hills.

He started the third round with a par putt from 15 feet. But on the second hole, Woods put his tee shot into the meandering creek. It was his first penalty of the week. He ended up with a bogey and was 4 over for the tournament. A conventional par on the No. 3 left him 1 for the round.

Temperatures have not yet reached 60 degrees and Louis Oosthuizen arrived wearing a full scarf to face the cold.

Among early starters, Webb Simpson is 2 under on four holes, but isn’t gaining much ground.

With the wind, with the rain at the PGA Championship on Saturday.

Southern Hills had about a half inch of rain early in the morning, along with a lightning show that delayed the start of round three by about 30 minutes. It left the course a little softer as it started to firm up.

Will Zalatoris has a one-shot lead and won’t leave until early afternoon. On deck is Tiger Woods, who showed a great fight in his finish for a 69 to make the cut by one.
